Alex Priest comes back for more…with a vengeance!

I’m gonna be honest with you guys right out of the gate. The first book was good, but the second Alex Priest really was a huge leap forward. I want to tell all of you as little as possible, because if you fell for the characters this book will really pull you through the pages.

In case you don’t remember, or god forbid, you didn’t read the first book(for shame!), Alex Priest takes place in a world where there are agencies that dealt with Vampiric and magical threats. Alex Priest and Janelle Garcia work for two different agencies that have been forced to team up to defeat a merger between vampires and demons. The two are former lovers who obviously suffered a bad breakup, though we’re not privy to all of the details.

Issue one set up all of the characters, the plot, and the villains nicely. Issue two, however, came out slaying, with action propelling you from one page to the next. I really don’t want to give much away, but things don’t go well for our heroes, forcing emotional turmoil and tough decisions.

Award winning writer Jenn Arledge doesn’t hold back even a little. Jenn holds you in the palm of their hand the entire time and really, there isn’t much you can do about it, but enjoy the ride. If I’m being picky, I will say I was a little disappointed to see some of the sexual tension between our leads disapate some, but they have a lot in store for themselves, so maybe they needed some stability.

Scott Malins pencils are clean and the art is solid all the way through. If you’re a fan of manga style art, this will surely be a treat for you.

When I had finished reading Alex Priest 2 I immediately contacted Jenn to tell them how much I enjoyed the adventure. I believe you’ll be doing just the same thing. Tell them Chuck sent ya.
