are a nightmare for which there is no waking up!!!!
How much of you is in Minx and how much of Minx is in you?
To know MINX is to know me, and to know me is to know that whatever MINX goes through, I’ve experienced in some way in my life. I mean that allegorically…but I hold true the Native American belief that when we sleep part of our consciousness travels to another dimension that might be just as valid as our waking reality. And the more we become aware of this, the more we are able to see the connection between those two worlds, with startling consequences.
What is the next big move for the Minx franchise?
I plan to create a web series next.
What are the goals for Minx? Is there a plan or desire to see it hit the Big screen?
I’m more interested in serial storytelling rather than feature films. I hate going to movies. What companies like Netflix, HBO, and Showtime, etc are doing seems more interesting to me than big screen features.
How much sexuality is in the pages of Minx and as a woman creator are you careful how you use sexuality in your books ??
I am careful about sexuality because I want people of all ages to be able to read my books. Minx focuses more on mythology and the dynamics of tribe and family than anything else—the women are empowered, but I really don’t use sexuality in my comic books beyond dramatic tight-fitting costumes or the occasional kiss between characters…which is very “PG”!
Do you think women have to work harder in the comic book industry and why do you feel that way?
Everyone has to work hard, regardless of gender. Nothing comes easy.
Minx is betrayed by someone close to her are you worried as the project gets bigger that someone related to the project might betray you down the road and make problem you just don’t need?
I listen to my intuition as best I can, and I’ve been fortunate to have worked with amazing artists. I’ve kept creative control over everything so far and hope to keep it that way as long as possible. But sometimes you have to take risks…and working with larger companies may mean giving up some of that control.
What was the worst comic book movie ever made and why?
I think there are a lot of terrible comic book movies…but what comes to mind is Elektra. I loved the Frank Miller book, and the film was watered down and homogenized to appeal to a wider audience. It lost the beautiful darkness of a complex character, and Jennifer Garner made Elektra look like the most boring person imaginable. That was disappointing.
