It was like a throwback to high school. Your sitting in a room and the person running the class isn’t showing up. Whispers begin about the room “how long we should wait” and “how could this be happening?”. The crowd was becoming annoyed at as every minute that passed. When a young woman stood and said
“This is not my panel but I was asked to be on it would you guys like me to start?
Her name is Elyse Reyes and she went from a panel guest to a panel runner in just moments she took the stage as the crowd roared yes to her proposal. As she took the stage and began with her intro she took charge of the event straight away. If you were just a minute or two later after she took the stage you would swear it was her panel. Elyse Reyes talked about the upcoming November Writers themed month NaNoWriMo that challenges Writers to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. Elyse Reyes talked about her experiences and event opened the crowd up for QNA. Elyse Reyes told the group of eager listeners to check sites that review agents and even publishers. There was talk of sites to help with Writers finishing their work and finding words that are on their tip of their tongue. Elyse Reyes spoke honestly about her personal journey and struggles in creating and how it all began for her.
Elyse Reyes has faced more struggles than most, yet is a very energetic and powerful voice in any room. Her passion for writing is clear as Elyse Reyes answers every question with a precise and well-worded answer. Again leaving anyone who was not there before Elyse Reyes took the stage to believe it was her panel.
This wonderful creator, Elyse Reyes is someone to follow and seek out if you have the opportunity to see her speak. She will inspire you to reach for more and become a better creator. Her book Surviving Conventions is something any creator can befit from reading who is planning on doing or is actually doing a con tour. It was a privilege for me to be in a room and see her shine.
