About
Are you ready to return to the Jazzpunk World of Conceptual Heist!
“…A 1920’s flapper vibe that is a perfect visual language to talk about the hyper-rich. His characters’ acting and body language is great, and the sci-fi setting never gets in the way of the action, it’s just the nano-particle-charged air they breathe.”
-Patrick Goddard, -graphicpolicy.com
The long running comic series CONCEPTUAL HEIST by Writer Jay D’Ici and Award winning Artist Matt G. Gagnon returns to Kickstarter to bring you the third chapter in full colour, as well as a chance to get issues 1 and 2 for newer readers.
Chapter 3 of Conceptual Heist takes off with Jemma on her way to the New Manhattan Space Station Casino to start work on her latest job. From the start her plans begin to go awry and she has to choose between the job and being able to get away scott free. Here is your chance to return to the Jazzpunk world, with flapper girls wearing computer contact lenses, and dapper men with cyborg arms. This original style and look can’t be seen elsewhere.
“Sometimes a comic project is too original and has such a unique look that we need to get it out there. Conceptual Heist is exactly that type of indie webcomic.”
-Dave Michaels expertcomics.com
Created by Matt G. Gagnon and Jay D’Ici while working together in the video game industry. The series was designed to create a look and style they had not seen before: a science fiction heist story using the aesthetics of the jazz age.

Where is the money going?
The money we get from this campaign is going towards paying our colourist and shipping the rewards out to backers. Our Colourist is Mathew Valle, a Montreal based comic artist who has done work for other comic professionals
The Comic Conceptual Heist has been running with regular updates since April 2015. Inspired by Warren Ellis’ single panel strip “Scatterlands style” to begin, the series evolved into a more of a traditional strip form instead of relying on single full panels fairly quickly. We are currenly running the final chapter of the first story arc in the weekly comics.
Who are we?
The creative team of Conceptual Heist is made up of:
Jay D’Ici, writer and co-creator, he has worked in film and video games, but his first love is comics. His first comic series “The Unfinding of Erasmus Civitatum” was a love letter to the stories and creators of 2000AD and Metal Hurlant. With Conceptual Heist he is paying tribute to the heist films he loves, while trying to mix some new styles and genres together.
Matt G. Gagnon, is the award winning artist (FBDM- Audience Selection: Best Short Comic) and other co-creator, trained in 3d art and illustration he decided while attempting to find work in the game industry that comics were his true calling. After launching his first webcomic series Yonaoshi, he decided to work with Jay to see what it was like to have a collaborator and has never looked back. (Mostly because he doesn’t have the time to look back.) He has studied comic illustration and storyboarding for film in both Los Angeles and Montreal.
Mat Valle, is the latest addition to the team as colourist. A Montreal artist and colourist he is also the creator of the web comic Canvas Chronicles.
