Can the Lowlife creator showthat he can out low lifeThe7Deadly Questions?
Why is lowlife’s worth people passion and fandom? It is a fun story that focus’ on the “villains,” and their exploits. The setting is also unique in that it takes place in what was once upon a time, a fantasy realm that progressed itself into the apocalypse. The story is after those events, so it is like “Lord of the Rings,” meets “Mad Max.”
What Indie Comic book Title are you currently a huge fan of?I love science fiction and have read volume one of Salvagers by Bob Salley
Why use idiegogo over Kickstarter?I chose indiegogo because the book is starting out as strictly a digital title. Indiegogo offers the flexibility to continue letting people pre-order after the campaign is done. I found that most appealing in that it would be easier to keep allowing fans to easily get their copies of the book without having to wait for website construction.
We see women are used as slaves and walk around topless, do you worry about offending women with that part of the story?Women are not the only slaves. In the story, most pure blood elves are slaves. There are elf men in the cage as well. The story, though about Ra’ek, (the Lowlife) is also about Nis’si, the elf slave girl. Though she is topless, as are most male and female slaves, it isn’t any more graphic than most of Image Comics titles as well as many other major studio’s mature rated titles. It is not my intention to offend anyone but it is a very brutal and savage post-apocalyptic world and even slavery can be part of it.
What awful things led to this new world wild west? The advancement of technology, industry and the quest for power was one start of it. The world also has two suns which made life difficult to begin with but, all in all, I don’t dwell too much on the “how” as the “now.” Which is a way of saying this is a story about the characters, their nature, and their current situations.
Would you sell the Lowlifes for a good amount of money and walk way with no control ?Not very likely.
What is a mistake you made in your early years that our readers can learn form ?There are so many mistakes I made early on, but I will focus on one. I used to think a good idea was enough. I could just have it and artists, publishers and fans would beat down my door to have it. My advice is to learn how to write comics. Devour them. All genres and utilize the net, schooling, How To books, everything to make sure you not only have the ability to tell the story, but the ability to translate it into words an artist, publishers and anyone who looks at it can follow and understand.
“Lowlife is a fun story that is in a very unique setting. It has a unique take on human nature and how dark situations can dictate behaviors and outcomes. It also has quite a bit of comic relief that will keep it fun and show that though dark and brutal, the story never takes itself to the point of being “over-written.” The story is beautifully drawn and brought to life by Ewelina Mroczkowska. Her style is very different and she is excellent at keeping the pace of the story while keeping it simple and easy to follow.”
