How to Fail with Courage and Grace all while Planing to Rise Up from that Failure

So, we didn’t hit our goal.
Alter-Life will not die. Issue #2 Launches March 1st!!

Caleb posted that Today just Hours after failing to fund on the Alter-Life Kickstarter.  Caleb only raised  $6,043 pledged dollars on a $19,400 goal, that would have let him tell the story all at once and not have to stop to do funding for  issue after issue.  This thread however  is not about the why it happened this is about the Courage of the man who  openly said we are gonna miss more than likely and than still let it fail while trying his hardest to prevent it. HE NEVER GAVE UP,  And even more audaciously he proclaimed  to  the world that this failure will stop nothing.

Most Creators if they know they are gonna fail pull the plug, it take courage to let it fail.

It take more courage to stand in Defeat and Plan a big victory and show the World this loss will never define you!

Its takes a Great Creator to be able to push past it all and stand up and say we are going again in just two weeks.

Caleb you have impressed me and the whole team over here at Written Sins and we look forward to Promoting you next campaign.  Now with that said I got to interview Caleb about this story early today and here is how it went down:

So when do you 1st realized the kickstarter was in trouble?

Well, I kind of knew going in that it was going to be a stretch. I have done small Kickstarters before, and raised $30K once before with some indie filmmakers, but comics are a different breed. It really set in during week 2 though. We hit the dreaded mid campaign slump early and never really recovered.
I knew I could probably fund the issue by issue version of the comic, but I wanted to try for the full book. It would have bothered me later if I hadn’t at least tried. I would have always been thinking, “What if?”

Takes a lot of Character  to admit out loud there is an issue, how was the news received on social media and did you find a lot of support after the news?

It’s actually been pretty amazing. Many backers and fellow creators have reached out and expressed their love for the concept and urged me to stay positive. I was never going to walk away from this project, and the out pouring of support and excitement about the series has really made this a very successful campaign. As soon as I posted the preview page for the Issue 2 campaign, I got feedback and comments from a number of backers. People want this book to get made.

Will you begin to reach out to places like  Amazon to do Kindle comics or other digital versions to get  the issue already  made a biggr audience?
I’m open to that idea. I want this to get into people’s hands any way possible. Issue 1 already made its way up on ComiXology, but that’s only the beginning. It’s all about exposure at this point, so I’m doing whatever I can to get the word out.

And Finally when will we be able to meet you at any cons coming up this year to support you and all your creations?
I will be at FantasiCon in Toledo on March 11th and 12th. I did Wizard World Chicago Last year, and I may try to do it again, but it’s pretty expensive. I’m hoping to do one or two other shows, but right now my primary focus is on getting Issue 2 funded, completed, and out to readers. I’m basically going to be running back-to-back campaigns to get this series done. You can get updates on which Cons I will be attending and follow the progress of Alter-Life at my webpage, www.villagecomicbooks.com
