Daniel didn’t you know? Making fun of people is a job for
The7Deadly Questions
How important is humor to you?
Humor is very important in my work. My art uses dark, sometimes cynical, ironic humor to better express an idea or take on some issue going on in the world. The humor is often used as a tool to present the message directly, and allow it to click with an audience member by providing dirty laughs.
What Indie Title are you currently a huge fan of?
"Love and Rockets" by The Hernandez Brothers
Do you believe that Political humor changes people minds about the people they parody?
Political humor often is used to just poke fun at something going on in the world, or to release comic relief during dark times. With that said, I do believe political humor can change minds, as it can present a problem or issue in a different light that may not have been considered before.
Is sexuality focused on too much in comic books?
This is truly a deadly question! Yes and no. Female characters in comics often are portrayed with perfect figures and lots of exposed skin. Certain characters exist only to serve as the male protagonist's love interest or damsel in distress. LGBTQ+ people are often less represented in comics as a whole. So is sexuality focused on too much in comics? I don't think so, but we as a creative culture do need to make progressions.
What about our society is a topic we need to address ?
I believe we have to ruthlessly attack racism, sexism, and hatred in all capacities. We need to promote intelligence and compassion, especially in today's world, with so much hatred lurking around every corner.
What’s Superhero do you dislike so much that if given the opportunity you would kill them off forever?? No coming back and why??
Normally I would never want to step on any fan's toes, but if I needed to kill off one disliked superhero forever, it would be Alpha, the amazing Spider-Man's small-time side kick. Alpha made his debut a few years ago and has been a relatively dormant character since, due to large negative fan backlash. The character always struck me as unnecessary and distracting.
Tell us about a mistake that you have made in your early years that our readers can learn form ?
I would say focus on making your comic or narrative clear, comphrensive, and most of all smart. Readers need a point to the content they're consuming, unless everything seems like a waste of time. Even if the story is amazing and the art dazzles, a comic can fall flat on its face if there is no emotional or intellectual connection to the reader. Also, remember not to get too carried away in world building and lore. A story needs to be centered around fleshed out, dynamic characters - the fun stuff will write itself!
Well done you have a single paragraph to tell us why we should become fans and what you are working on now, but know The 7 are watching you!
