FAVORITE COMIC BOOK:
Growing up:
Anything by Kelly Jones.I picked up his Batman Dark Joker book at a signing he did for a Comic shop that had opened at our local mall. I had never encountered comic book art like that before that day. There was so much happening on every page. Doug Moench wrote such a great story and John Beatty’s inks still to this day keep me coming back for more inspiration. The backing to its hard cover is broken now and the pages fall out when opened.Truly a prized possession!
and now:
I just finished reading the first volume of Tokyo Ghost. Again, that entire team is just killing it. Really solid story telling.

IF YOU DON’T SURVIVE THIS, YOUR HISTORY WILL GO UNTOLD!
Different things scare different people. Comics are such a visual medium, a big part is pacing. Pacing and knowing who it is at that time you are aiming to give the creepy crawlies to. Some people don’t like certain textures where as others you can simply not show the gory stuff and let their imagination do the work. A lot of time that’s more powerful than anything I could put on the page.(cover by John Mccrea—->)
bEst Horror film ever made and why?
Thats easy! The original black and white House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price. Every shot it epic. There is always some part of the house in the foreground. The house really is the star of the movie. That’s something I really try to incorporate in my story telling. Environment to me is really key. It can also be a good way to distract the audience or get them to zero in on something important to the plot.
iSn’t the real world scary enough? Do we even need monsters when we have them on the news almost weekly now??
The world can be a super scary place! I think for my part I’m giving people a break from that. Ya, some of it might shake you a bit but the best part is -its not real.
aRen’t horror tales just cheap ways to get women naked and make them seem weak?
I’ve always liked strong females. I like writing them and drawing them. I even married one. Plus I have two young daughters. So that kinda thing isn’t really my aim when I’m making a book.
iF given the chance to make the next horror film would you create something new or use something old and if so whom ?
I would go with something new. There are so many great writers out there with such new and innovative voices.
wHat is a mistake made by horror films you do not plan to make ?
Showing to much of the monster or showing it to soon. Again I think the best way to really get under the audience skin is to let their imagination run wild.
Well done Johannes Vick you have a paragraph to tell us why we need to be fans of the UNTOLD and what you are working on now?
Right now Daniel Farrand , Peter Palmiotti, Mike Adkins and I have a Kickstarter going for our book The Untold. It’s about a young woman who is searching for her grandfather who disappeared only to turn up in one of the UK’s most notorious Asylums. And whats a good scary story if we didn’t have some monsters and ghosts to accompany us along the journey. Ultimately that’s why I was interested in doing this dook. Daneil really crafted a great journey that I simply had to be a part of!
Right now I’m focused on The Untold. I have several other projects I am a part of that will be out by years end but right now my main goal is making sure The Untold meets its funding goals. so far we are right on track and I couldn’t be happier!
