Accepting pitch submissions for a video game themed anthology comic. 8 page stories. Need artists and writers. If you don’t have an artist or writer you are already working with I will be matching up folks. Send pitches to submissions@digitalnerdage.com
Contributors will be given completed books to sell as compensation and will retain rights to their work after a “cooling off” period.
Looking forward to working with everyone.-Pat Kawula
I am looking to do some more when it comes to writing comics. The best way to do that in my opinion is just to DO something. That said, I had an idea for an anthology comic that I am taking submissions for until February 15th.
As I have never published a single piece before, I want to use this anthology to hopefully work with people similar to myself. Not necessarily as inexperienced as me, but people out there doing the work to get their name out there and sell more books. That said, I won’t stop anyone from submitting.
The theme of the anthology is one of my favorite subjects, video games. Be it a story about playing video games, or a story inspired by your favorite video game the concentration should be on that medium. I doubt I would be able to get any kind of licensing so staying away from licensed characters is best. If a story has licensed material, and it just grabs me, I may still look in to figuring out how to license it… 🙂
I am still working out details, but the intention will be for creators that participate to be paid in books after printing. The book will be Kickstarted but I plan to put everything back in to the book to give it the widest reach it can get. Also, the creative teams will maintain the rights to their stories after a cooing off period. Again, the specific details are still being worked out, but this WILL be covered in a contract.
So the nitty gritty. I will be taking pitches(these do not need to be full scripts) of EIGHT(8) page stories. If you would like me to sign an NDA before submitting your pitch, I am happy to do that. I understand protecting your intellectual property.
If you would like to submit to the anthology, send your pitch to submissions@digitalnerdage.com. Pitches only. Scripts will come later. Artists that want to join the fun, can just send an email of interest to the email, with a link to some of your work.
I will then work through the pitches and reach out to those I would like to put in the book. I am thinking it will be 10-12 stories depending on the number of submissions.I will also then start pairing up writers and artists based on each person’s style. If you have a writer/artist you want to work with specifically, please submit as a pair at the beginning.
Thanks so much and I look forward to working with you all!-Pat Kawula
