TELL US ALL ABOUT PROJECT NERD PUBLISHING?
I founded Project-Nerd Publishing in 2015 to offer original and independent comic books and geek literature. Project-Nerd Publishing focuses on high quality creator-owned titles, as well as custom publications, building a diverse library of content that is unlike anything else.
As well known as the Project-Nerd name has been, Project-Nerd Publishing is new to the game. Even with a great team of volunteers and a dynamic group of creators, we have a long way to go and are just getting an exciting 2017 slate prepared. We need fans to pick up our comics, spread the word, and push for local and regional stores to carry our titles.

What Indie Title are you currently a huge fan of?
I recently picked up Atlas Origins (graphic novel) and have enjoyed That Bulletproof Kid and the start of Hit Girlz.

What has been your favorite project to work on and why?
That’s like picking your favorite kid. I’ve wanted to write since I was in middle school and only recently started. I’ve really enjoyed bringing to life some characters that have been in my head for awhile, such as Esme Ford (Barrens, The Escort) and Billie (Billie).

Is sexuality focused on too much in comic books?
It depends where you are looking. Certain publishers use it as a gimmick, certain publishers use it to tell the story, and some use it to share a social message. I think you can find it anywhere in any entertainment industry, but you can also find plenty of great content without it being a focus.

Tell us about the hard realities of the Wild west and the facts that most reader might not know thanks to Hollywood?
Hollywood always gives us a western filled with only white cowboys, maybe tossing us a Denzel Washington or hispanic cowboy every once in awhile. During the gold rush there was an extensive number of Asian immigrants that came over and worked, not to mention nearly one in four cowboys were black. Women had to often fight to survive just as much as the men did. Billie focuses on those characters you don’t see in every movie.

If you could out right own any Character every created and than make your own stories for them, who would that character be?
The obvious choice is Batman, but I think I would really go with Sara Pezzini, aka Witchblade. Witchblade was what brought my child mind into comics and it grew from there. But in truth, it wasn’t just Michael Turner’s art that got me into it, the story was really well done and the concept of this ancient weapon leaves the writers with countless of opportunities.

What is a mistake you made in your early years that our readers can learn form and not repeat in their journey?
I was afraid to do it on my own, as in writing. I didn’t think I had it in me so I would help create and then hand over my creations to somebody else who would evolve it into their own. The greatest thing about the independent industry is countless of writers, creators, and small publishers were happy to provide the resources I needed to get me moving in the “write” direction. Also, limit your puns.

First, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me.
Project-Nerd Publishing is what you want in an independent publisher. It’s founded off the shoulders of a geek and entertainment website that learned so much from the industry by covering other publishers and brands. We quickly decided to be outside the box by offering a wide variety of content that doesn’t fit the normal bill. Each series offers something different and fresh. Billie, the one on Kickstarter, is the prime example. The aforementioned comments about the truth of the Wild West are heavily considered in this graphic novel, and we have characters that look good but will kick your ass first.
