Red Tide #1
Red Tide is a crime comic about Trevor Alley and his fight to survive on Buckshead Island, a lawless community off the coast of Maine.
Buckshead Island was once the single biggest exporter of shellfish in the state of Maine. That all changed with the coming of the Red Tide.
The Red Tide, a toxic algal bloom, infected the shellfish along the island’s shores. Thought to be a short-term event, the fishermen took odd jobs off the island on the Mainland to get by.
But the Red Tide never left. Decades later, it still clings to the island’s shores.
Most of the Islanders left to start new lives on the Mainland. But some, like Abel Briggs, refused to leave Buckshead.
In order to keep the island community alive, Abel turned to a life of crime. He began manufacturing and distributing heroin, first to other islands near Buckshead, and eventually throughout the entirety of Maine and Canada. Eventually, Abel was the head of a very profitable drug smuggling ring.
Our story begins when Abel’s troubled son Adam tries to prove himself as the rightful heir to the family business and ends up starting a war between a rival gang. It is up to Trevor Alley, ex-fisherman and Abel’s right-hand man, to end what Adam started before too much is lost.
How far is Trevor willing to go to protect his way of life?
