Grand City is the home to many heroes. Some are rather super, others…not so much.
Mark Salzmann is a pretty typical guy. By day he’s a graphic designer. In his downtime, he does his best to be a protector of the innocent from the likes of purse snatchers, mailbox thieves, and all around bad guys.
What amazing powers could such a noble soul possess? How about unusually strong feet and a love for ballet dancing? Listen, the guy has passion and purpose. Cut him some slack.
Since his appearance in Grand City, the public opinion has been a bit mixed on Mark. They aren’t even really sure what to call him. The Ballet Basher? The Pirouette Punisher? Twinkle Toes? Despite this, Mark does his best to do good. Everything is going great until his girlfriend spots him kicking some purse snatcher in the nuts one day. How is he ever going to convince her to get back together with him, when all her friends now know that he’s…’Fluffy Feet’?
About the Project…
About a year ago I decided to make comic books about those other guys. Sure, they have talents and powers, but they are not out to save the world…more like two square blocks of Des Moines, Iowa or something.
We were looking to make books about those lovable losers, the ‘Deuce Bigalow’ of superheroes. This book is one of those.
The premise started with a simple idea, a hero with an embarrassing power gets caught by his girlfriend using that power and dumps him. Of course, he decides to win her back. The only problem was…I had no idea what power this poor guy was supposed to have.
I pitched the idea to writer Lee Newman, and he went off into some slap stick, bouncy castle corner of his mind and came back with…
The world’s first Ballet Dancing Superhero. His 4 page proof of concept was hilarious, and led to this book, and hopefully more.
The book itself is finished. It’s a 23 page story, full glorious color.
For your enjoyment, here is an example of the book, the first opening pages:
