Why did you feel you need Kickstarter’s help to launch your project and will your goal if ..reached cover all the creative costs?
I felt the need to utilize Kickstarter because I’ve found the best artist I’ve ever had the chance to collaborate with, Nela Vohenska, and the only way I can pay her what she deserves is with some help from our beloved comic book community. If we’re fully funded I will be able to pay for Nela’s art, the printing, incentives, and shipping.
How did the creative team behind this Kickstarter Come together?
After a handful of botched collaborations on the project, I put an ad on DigitalWebbing.com. Everyone who submitted art samples was great but only two artists had styles that fit the project. From there, I paid both artists to illustrate one page of the script in order to see how well their art jived with my writing. Both sample pages were amazing but, when I opened Nela’s page, I literally gasped and jerked back from my phone. Then we immediately got to work on negotiating a contract and prepping for the Kickstarter.
What do you believe separates your Kickstarter from the thousands of other Kickstarters out there?
I’ve seen a ton of horror comics on Kickstarter but I’ve never seen a story about a suburban serial killer who is hunting soccer moms. Along with that, I’ve never seen a project with art that is as stunningly original and haunting as The Soccer Mom Killer’s.
Is the Kickstarter the Start of something Bigger or is this a must have One Shot?

Oh, this is just the beginning! This is issue # 1 of a trilogy that will eventually be collected into a graphic novel.
Are Stretch Goals something important to your project or just your way to give back to the Backers?
Stretch goals are a fantastic way to give back to backers. I never take it for granted when someone is willing to take a chance on one of my books. As someone coming from a punk rock background, I feel it’s crucial to deliver more than people expect in order to express gratitude to those who support my art.
If you saw this project, pretending it wasn’t your what would do you think of it and how you would react to it and Why?
First the quality of the art would immediately attract me. Then, because I live in the suburbs and have been subjected to some unpleasant behavior from uppity soccer moms, my evil side would be seduced by the concept of a serial killer who targets them.
What is the inspiration behind this project?
The original kernel of an idea came when a soccer mom angered me by walking in front of me, almost causing me to wreck my bike (and thus incur serious physical harm). Years later I revisited the concept (because it wouldn’t leave me alone) and began writing the script. At first I had no idea what the killer’s motives were but he revealed them to me as the script progressed.
