The Creative Process
The Unsocial behavior on social media.
There is no way to avoid negativity on social media. If your anything like me you where raised to stand up for yourself. And offline that is still important but online it may not be so important. You could have the reasons in the world to be mad or even go back at a person. But do you want to show an ugly side online?
Some people are online to tear people down. They do this by being nasty to you but more often do it just to watch you lose your cool and react. So the next time someone mess with you one line think of it this way, Do I really need to correct this person? Are they actually trying to talk to me or they just out to attack me. And is it worth the time?
And even if you responded you have to do it correctly, with respect even if they aren’t giving it to you. Very often you have more to lose over them. You could either make your ego fell better or protect your brand. And if you are a creator on Facebook you must always look at yourself as a brand. And you must be aware of what you are doing to your brand with every post.
The Creative Process
Do you need a copyright?
YES.
But Doesn’t just creating it mean you own the copy right.
Sort of.
Here is the simplest way to look at it. If you apply for a copyright you will not have to do much to prove ownership. If you don’t have one proving it becomes harder than you think. Even mailing something to yourself isn’t as iron clad as you where told.
Now I get it you like me have 100 stories right? Here is how I handle controlling the cost. Combined some stories into a bigger story. I own 3 copy rights. 2 are for their own project that stand complete alone. 1 is for NYR, Gothic Blue and Dark Justice. I combined them into one anthology and copy wrote it. So boom 3 works one copy right.
Now I suggest Apply for a copyright before sharing a story with anyone. The price depends on the project but all the info is easy to get here:
http://www.copyright.gov/
Do not waster the money on having someone do it for you. Trust me it isn’t that hard. I even had an issue with an upload going berserk and tripling itself and they helped me with me it and got back right away.
So sorry writers but this is another cost. You may take a risk and do it with out. Understand that you don’t only have to worry about people stealing your ideas but also someone coming to you and accusing you of stealing their work.

The Creative Process
Sacrifice
To be a creator ,writer or artist this is a word you will know intimately if you plan to pursue this beyond a hobby.
I get that you can write, draw and create like the wind. Thats is the cover charge to this journey. You will need to understand that you are going to piss off loved ones because you will be busy. You will have to miss events. You will have to miss important moments because you will have to travel.
There is no winning lottery ticket. You are gonna need to go to cons and you are going to need to network. This is going to take time. Its going to me less time watching TV less time hanging out Less time playing games and less time with loved ones.
This is the cost of creation. You have to sacrifice and loss sleep, money, friends and time. You will need to spend time not just creating but building a fan base and building a pool of people to work with. You cant do this alone. You have to be willing to lose a lot to create you new worlds.
DC isnt coming to knock down you door nor is Marvel you have to knock their doors down of even better build a better door.
The creative Process
Loneliness
Understand that in the beginning of anything you do it will be lonely. You will have to earn support you will have to earn help. You will have to work to get an audience. knowing that don’t let your self get discouraged when you post tweet or whatever to no like or comments. It takes time to earn a daily response for everything you post put out there. t the beginning worry about what your putting out there not who liking it or commenting on it. That will come later if you are dedicated enough and believe enough.
Creative Process
Keep creating. Don’t stop and get sticking wiring for an artist. Write something else while you Keats create.
The Creative Process
BE GOOD TO PEOPLE! I swear to you it comes backs to you and often on your darkest days. Let people hate you. Treat everyone how you want to be treated.
