Rob is the INDIE ADVOCATE, and Finally Has a page
Dedicated to what he does for INDIE COMICS and Creators.

Who is the INDIE ADVOCATE?

First and foremost he is a lifelong  Fan of Comic Books. When Rob was about 11  he was having an extremely difficult time learning to read.  He had very low self-esteem and had been written off as a “Stupid” Troubled Kid.  The Words the Adults used to describe him were not flattering, from Lazy to Stupid and more often bad the list went on and on.  Rob Felt Very Alone in that point of his life unsure and frightened by the future.

One early Morning Rob watched a Cartoon that would change his life named Pryde of the X-Men.  It made him feel less alone and helped him feel like other people knew how he felt; Different and Misunderstood.  After watching  Pryde of the X-Men Rob Wanted more but sadly there were no other episodes to watch. He had noticed that the show was From Marvel Comics so he went out to find out more about These X-Men at his local newspaper stand.  ( Back in 80’s you could get Comics at Newspaper Stand- A NEWSPAPER is a Printed NEWS Blog). Not being able to read would NOT STOP Rob, he would just have to learn to read. So he took out a dictionary and put it on the left side of his comic and started looking up all the words he didn’t know. One by One the Words started making Sense and the Art made more sense with every Word.

This was a difficult time for Rob as he was told he was  “RETARDED” and had to be TESTED, at his Father insistence. His Father felt that there might be something wrong with his sons learning ability but he knew he wasn’t  “RETARDED”   (their choice of wording) and in fact was very intelligent. After some testing, it was found Rob was not “RETARDED” and in fact was very smart but also very Dyslexic. This News not only made his Father Happy but made Rob re-evaluate who he was. He had been told for so long all of it was his fault and he was a bad kid but in fact, the School system had failed to identify a Disability that could be crippling to his education. To this Day Rob jokes on his panels that he will learn Phonics with his son Jaxx as he never learned it himself as a child.

Within a year of picking up, a comic Rob Went from a reading test score of early elementary school and failing the State Reading tests to a TECHINCAL MANUAL.  In his Own words, Rob credits Comics for saving his life.

Comics would remain in his life from that point on and he promised himself he would create his own comics one day. Rob would live up to that promise but along the way, Rob got seriously injured.  An Injury that has left him in Serious pain daily and left him permanently Disabled with a Degenerative Condition. Comics Had already taught Rob that Life wasn’t fair but even he wasn’t ready for this.

In pain and honestly, Angy Rob was told to find a way to do something that made him Happy and was a Positive thing to Focus on as he was healing and readjusting to life after the injury.  He Decided he would help other Creators on Their Creative Journey to distract himself from the pain and build a platform that could also benefit himself and other creators like him. It began with a  Facebook Group that became a Website and that Website Grew along with Rob till one day it was named INDIE ADVOCATES after Rob who had been anointed the INDIE ADVOCATE.  Rob’s Selfless actions of helping others turning a Negative to a positive has inspired other creators to rally a community into supporting eachother.

This page is about The INDIE ADVOCATE named Rob and we all know the

1st Question he would ask you if he knew you were a Creator was how can he help you.
